Evidence Based Skin Care Routine

What is a good skin care routine?

Any skin care pattern made with the help of skin care products, for better proliferation and quality of skin was called as good skin care routine.

Does this really works, if yes, Justify?

The routines which I’m prescribing are scientific /evidence based techniques , means these active ingredients of the components are tested to a set of people/group and the other group left with normal cream, and when we say that it was evidence/scientifically proven , these group of people who used active ingredients shows more result compared to group of people who are under normal cream.

As I said in the testing phase, it was carried to group of people with varied characteristics of skin and DNA structure, so already a person who has good skin visibility might sounds a little change, but for a person who has more acne and pigmentation, it will be a drastic change!

Change is assured, the level of change varies from people to people :)

Does this work irrespective of Skin nature?

Irrespective of whether you are oily based, dryness or combination skin, these patterns of products use was scientifically proven, only the quantity may vary, say if you are oily based skin, you can reduce the use of moisture to little level, or you are more dry skin, increase moisturiser content and reduce the retinol level to small pee.

Suggested skin care products/skin care routine?

The three most basic skin care routine/components to be followed irrespective of gender to achieve and maintain good quality of skin.

1.Moisturiser

2.Sunscreen

3.Retinoid Cream

Please note: There is no promotional aspect, and you can purchase any genuine product which composites of below active ingredients.

Over to the explanation of each component:

Moisturizer - Helps to get rid of our skin dryness, and helps in retaining naturally produced oils by our skin. A ideal moisturiser should have 3 ceramide components ( Ceramide- NP, AP and EOP) and hylauronic acid as per evidence based approach.  Should be taken twice per day, once before applying sunscreen in morning and second before applying retinoid cream in night.

Sunscreen- helps preventing our skin damage by UV rays, and avoid tans, wrinkles and other skin damages. There are two type of sunscreen, physical-based as well as chemical-based. Recommend to use SPF 50, with the protection against rating as PA+++. Should be applied in morning after moisturiser. And if you feel though you are more exposed to sunlight on basis of work, you can have it 3 hours once.

Retinoid Creams - Basically as Vitamin A composite play multi role over skin quality.

Anti-aging, anti-wrinkles, anti-pigmentation, anti-acne,anti-cancer as well as anti-darkspots.

Two categories in total, Retinol (market available components , less strength forms of Vitamin A) and Retinoids ( prescription based availability - Teratogenic components( shouldn’t be consumed by pregnancy women as well the women requires pregnancy, as this intake might lead of side effect for the child).

These vitamin A binds to our cell DNA and enhances cell proliferation and cell differentiation process( the process of skin cells becoming mature) and also promotes the production of collagen which keeps our skin more glow with young look. Multiple strength of retinol creams are available in markets, 0.025.0.05 and 0.01. Recommend to start with lowest strength and it will take time of 3-4 weeks to get adapt to the skin, and  gradually you can increase the strength on skin tolerance basis. The use if retinol creams comes with the side effect of Dryness and Flaking, but nothing to worry, this side effects gets subsided and the skin will be adapted to it within 3 weeks. Noticeable difference could only be visible after 3-4 months. Should be taken at night before bed , only with moisturiser, so which helps to avoid the effects of dryness. The reason behind the dryness and flaking is also a part of cell shed process to come up with new cells.

No Pain : No Gain :)

Why can’t we add more to the skin care process?

You can also add some cleansers, lip balms and serums on your financial basis, but I personally will be addressing to the cost effective practices and the key essential ones, over in the end,  I will be also recommending some genuine products composite of essential components and the cost derivation.

What are the recommended products?

All the below recommended products composites of essential active ingredients mentioned above.

Derma co moisturiser - 50gm comes with 350 rupees.

Sunscreen - Recommended to go with physical/mineral sunscreen, as it sits as a separate layer on top of skin and start the process of protection immediately after applying and reflects UV rays. So go with the one which has titanium dioxide and zinc dioxide.

Dr. Sheth’s for Indian skin or Derma Co 1% Hylauronic acid. - both moisturiser as well as sunscreen ingredients cones with 440 rupees.

Retinol cream - Brand doesn't matter, strength matters. I personally use Tretinoin Cream - 0.025. with 200 rupees

So in total it comes for 990, so approximately 1000 for 2months, thus it cost 500 per month. Hence our track to cost effective skin quality was ensured :)
